Flying Football … and Fútbol

Delivering the game ball at sports events used to be a rather mundane task, but not in the age of drones. Now it’s a opportunity for pre-game competition to see who can deliver the ball in more spectacular fashion.

Auburn University got the ball flying last fall at a football game with Texas A&M. “It started on one end of the field then flew around to the other end before dropping it into the hands of Aubie the Tiger,” USA Today reported.

Now the Portuguese Football Federation has topped the NCAA show by delivering a man on a drone while carrying the game ball. It happened at the Portuguese Cup final on Sunday.
